OUR STORY

Established in 1999 on Chicago’s North Shore, Trellis & Trugs quickly became the shop discerning landscape architects and garden enthusiasts went for European planters, fountains and garden antiques. We scoured the European countryside and the markets of France, England and Italy to bring home the most interesting garden decor. Over time we decided to focus on those things that are reproducible: hand cast lead, hand rolled terra cotta, hand carved Vicenza limestone and hand soldered zinc, to name a few.

Via our travels throughout Europe we established relationships with artisans that continue today. These are people who truly make Trellis & Trugs so special. Artisans who learned their trade from their fathers and their fathers before them. What a treat watching a hand cast English Lead planter being poured into sand molds. Being there as a master of terra cotta rolls a pot. It is this devotion to authenticity and quality that gives our planters and fountains that old-world feel, even if the design is decidedly contemporary.

As our reputation for service, as well as quality and the ability to help design professionals realize their visions grew, so did our reach. In 2011 we became trellisandtrugs.com. This allowed us to offer a wider range of planters, fountains and garden ornaments with the same commitment to European craftsmanship.
